日本で最初の世界遺産の一つで、日本を代表する観光地である姫路城。
平成の大改修を終え、白く優雅に輝くその姿はまさに白鷺城です。
海外からの観光客も大変多く、時には入城制限がかかることも。
そんな姫路城を外国人に英語で案内できるようになっておきましょう！
姫路城とは
Himeji Castle was built in 1609.
姫路城は1609年に建てられたんだ
It's one of the twelve existing towers in Japan and has been preserved since it was bulit.
現存１２天守の一つで、建造当初から保存されているんだ
Becase the color of the walls are white, it's called "egret castle"
壁がシラサギのように真っ白なことから、「白鷺城」と呼ばれているよ
It was chosen to be one of the first world heritage sites in Japan in 1993.
1993年に日本で初めて世界遺産に登録されたよ
It has never gone through a war since it was built.
建城されてから一度も戦で使われていないんだ
It is Hirayamajiro, which means it stands on a hill, so you can see it from all over the city.
平山城といって、高台の上に建てられているから、市内のいたるところから眺めることができるんだ
姫路城への行き方
It's easier to go from JR Himeji station.
ＪＲ姫路駅から行くのが行きやすいよ
It takes about 20 minuites on foot from Himeji station to the castle.
姫路駅から徒歩約２０分で姫路城につくよ
It's very easy to get to the castle because it's just to go straight ahead from the station.
駅からまっすぐ行くだけだから分かりやすいね
There are many toll parking lots around the castle.
姫路城周辺には有料の駐車場がたくさんあるよ
There are many spots with a good view of the main tower in the castle. It would also be lots of fun to hidden photo spots.
城内には天守閣がきれいに見える場所がいくつもあるよ。隠れた撮影スポットを探してみるのもいいね
天守閣への道
The admission fee is 1,000 yen.
入場料は1,000円だよ
When it's crowded, the number of visitors will be controlled.
混雑しているときには入城できる人数が制限されることがあるんだ
The castle has "Okikuido(Okiku-well)" inside. A lady named Okiku was killed and thrown into this well being falsely accused of breaking a dish. It's a famous Japanese scary story.
お菊の井戸があるよ。昔お菊という女性が、お皿を割ったという濡れ衣を着せられ、殺されてこの井戸に投げ捨てられたんだ。日本の有名な怪談話だよ。
The main tower is only 130 meters away from the first gate, Hishino-mon, but the way there is zigzag like a maze so it takes time to get there.
最初の門「菱の門」から天守閣までは直線距離で約１３０メートルしかないんだけど、道が迷路みたいに曲がりくねってなかなかたどり着けないんだ

姫路城の天守閣

During the major renovations from 2009, the exterior walls were replastered and the castle regained its brilliance.
天守閣は2009年からの大規模な修理で、壁の漆喰などが塗りなおされ、かつての輝きを取り戻したよ
The main tower looks like a 5-story building, but it is actually a 6-story building with one basement floor. The 5th floor is intentionally hidden.
天守閣は５階建てに見えるけど地下１階、地上６階建てなんだ。５階部分が意図的に隠されているんだよ
The small building next to ”Daitenshu(the large tower)” is called "Shotenshu(The small tower)"
大天守の隣に並んでいる小さな建物が小天守だ
The main tower has a shrine on it's top floor. It has existed on this place since even before the castle was built.
天守閣の最上階には神社があるよ。姫路城ができる前からこの土地にあるんだって。
It is very unique to have a toilet and sink inside the main tower.
天守閣の中にトイレや流し台があるのは珍しいんだ
好古園
Kokoen is a japanese garden which was built on the place where used to have samurai residences.
好古園は武家屋敷の跡に作られた日本庭園だよ
It is often used as a filming location.
様々な映画の撮影に使われているんだ
The pond in the garden has many colored carps.
庭園にある池には錦鯉がたくさん泳いでいるよ
